VEHICLE MAINTENANCE SERVICES
6,000 mile vehicle service program- At Car Craft, we recommend having your vehicle serviced every 6,000 miles, which is about 3 times a year for most drivers. This service includes checking everything on your vehicle, changing the engine oil and filter , and topping off all fluids to make sure your vehicle stays in top running condition. When we do the 6k check we check your vehicle out the same way we would check out one of our own vehicles if we were planning on driving to California. We will report to you anything that may need immediate attention, let you know what maintenance and repairs are upcoming, and give you peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is in top running condition.
If you ever hear a different noise or have a vibration in your steering wheel when braking, please come see us right away. We will check your brake system for free. If you are hearing a new or different noise, there is something that needs to be adjusted or replaced in your brake system. The problem will not go away by itself, nor will it get less expensive to repair if you wait.
We recommend having your transmission fluid flushed every 30,000 miles. This will prevent glazing from coating your internal transmission parts, and greatly extend the life of your transmission.
We recommend having your spark plugs changed every 30,000 miles.
We recommend changing exposed belts, such as your serpentine belt, air condition belt, and power steering belt every 48,000 miles. Our philosophy is these should be changed before they show cracking or break. This prevents breakdowns, towing charges, and having your vehicle out of service for a day or two while it is being repaired.
We recommend that all coolant and heater hoses should be changed every 60,000 miles. The failure rate of hoses rises dramatically with hoses that are more than 4 years old. If a hose fails, it can and does lead to engine overheating and catastrophic engine failure.
Yes, we can change your timing belt! We recommend having this belt changed every 100,000 miles.
Engine timing belts are located under a cover and are normally not visible. Also, under the cover is your water pump, camshaft seals, crank seals, and other pulleys designed to keep tension on the belt. Getting under this cover to change the timing belt takes several hours of labor, and so we always recommend replacing all the components under the cover when changing the timing belt.
